Recently, Carlton held the Managing Director position at The Cove Eleuthera where he led a $64m redevelopment of the resort and oversaw all aspects of the intimate resort, including guest experience and food and beverage programming, all while maximizing revenue and maintaining focus on strategic goals. With nearly 30 years of Caribbean-specific and luxury experience, as well as a deep and proven understanding of the marketplace and our core guests—all of these unique traits made him an exceptional tourism leader.
Prior to The Cove Eleuthera, Carlton spent 22 years at Atlantis Bahamas, where he held numerous executive leadership positions during his two decade-long tenure, including vice president of resort and food & beverage operations; vice president of hotel operations and vice president and general manager-conventions, where he oversaw the largest conference space in the Caribbean. Previously, Russell served as director of food & beverage at Ocean Club Resort, A Four Seasons Resort (formerly One & Only), where he oversaw a team of 350 employees.
Russell has also served as President of the Bahamas Hotel Tourism Association (2016-2020) and is a profound leader in the Bahamian tourism industry. Additionally, he acted as an adjunct professor at the University of West Indies and holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy-Leadership & Organizational Change. Further evidence of his industry dedication, he also served as a trustee on two boards of directors: Bahamas Hotel Industry Management Pension Fund and Bahamas Hotel Employees Assistance Fund.
Eleuthera was an annual childhood summer retreat for Carlton, he is now a full-time resident, along with his wife Elizabeth and his three adult children, Chelsi, Chadwick and Charlot whenever they visit.
